The Baha’i or ‘Lotus’ Temple at Qutub Minar near Delhi, was completed in 1986. Its shape is based on the petals of the lotus flower with 27 interior petals surrounded by 9 open petals and 9 broad entrance petals. This monumental structure, using bright white concrete, was designed for a 200 year life.
The petals were reinforced with 300 t of galvanized bar to avoid the risk of rust staining and cracking and to maintain the pristine appearance of this monumental structure.
